Q: What is Lolita/Mori Girl/Dolly Kei?
A: These are all fashions started in Japan at various times, and yes they are all different from one another.
- Lolita: Lolita started back a couple decades ago, known as Elegant Gothic Lolita, and snowballed from there splitting into many substyles from elaborate gothic to pastel-toned sweet. Though many people first think of the novel by the same name, lolita style is NOT the same thing and is not "naughty" as some people who jump to that conclusion may think. Think of bisque dolls, the rococo era, ladies in elaborate dresses, and tea parties. To read more about lolita, go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lolita_fashion
- Mori Girl: The word "mori" means "forest" in Japanese, so the name is literally "forest girl." This style has a homespun esthetic, with its wearers looking like adorable woodland fairies fit for a fairytale. Typically, many layers of natural, earth tone pieces are worn loosely in an endearing hodgepodge. This blog is good primer: http://morigirl.blogspot.com/
- Dolly Kei: The most recent of the three, dolly kei actually takes inspiration from Western sources, specifically vintage & historical pieces. Antique & vintage pieces are highly prized in this fashion, along with a quirky assortment of repurposed items-as-accessories. Q: What Does "Perianth" mean?
A: peri·anth noun \ˈper-ē-ˌan(t)th\
the floral structure comprised of the calyx and corolla especially when the two whorls are fused.
New Latin perianthium, from peri- + Greek anthos flower
First Known Use: circa 1806
Basically, it's a part of a flower somewhere between the lower part of the petals and the top of the stem. I thought it sounded lovely & delicate, and the connection to flowers fit the image I wanted to evoke.
Q: Do you ship Internationally?
A: Yes! Perianth ships everywhere! If you are worried about any aspect of shipping, don't hesitate to contact me.
Q: Why is your etsy shop named "alphadregs"?
A: Alpha Dregs is a name I chose on etsy long before I started Perianth. The reason why I haven't changed it is because I hope to start creating items under the name Alpha Dregs as well and selling it alongside Perianth in the future.
Q: Do you take commissions?
A: Generally I do not take commissions due to time constraints. In the future I may have some custom size items available, and may even be able to accept a small amount of commissions, but currently I regret that I cannot.
Q: Do you make this in a different size?/Why don't you have any items in my size?
A: I try to make things in a range of sizes, but I usually create things in the US Medium range as it is the most popular. If you don't see your size, please tell me! Size feedback is essential to me, and I love to hear what you want.
